Wa long time never blog
liao, damn sad..
Hmm so what happened recently? Nothing much actually. Perhaps last sunday where I went to JAMs Church to help out with the ministry cuz they lack manpower. When I reached, I was tasked to sort out some papers containing activities for the attendees to do. Before the service starts we prayed together for God's presence and anoint the church leaders. Then in came the crowds. They arrived orderly and seemingly enthusiastically. Some had to be helped to their seats, but the situation was fine. The age group ranges from as young as 7-30+, similar to the main branch (my church, CHC) attendees.
The service starts with simple praise and worship songs, but there are some at the back who are not participative of the service. It took us quite a while to raise the atmosphere but still there are observers. There are alot of movements at the back, so there's a need for crowd control, for which I'm part of. Then the service move on to recap on the bible verses taught during the past few weeks and a game was held to see who can remember the verses.
A simple church huh? But just to let you know, this church is for the disabled. Yes the DISABLED. Imagine a person who will for no reason apparent (to me), stand up and make noises (think he's trying to say something), and had to be pulled down and made to keep quiet a few times. This is but ONE person in the service. It is just a miracle how the ministry members managed to remember all their needs and behaviour and the ways to tackle the problems. Some of us (like me) do need to take some time off to truly appreciate the life that we have.
I'll end off with a joke =]
Long long time ago in the galaxy far far away...
There was this planet, and on this planet there was these 2 country, Holy Kingdom of God and the Isle of the Damned. On these 2 country there were people (de..).
One day a country called the Middleman decided to hold this competition. Each country can only send one representative. The rules are that everyone is not suppose to communicate with their breath. The competition went on until the 2 countries, Holy Kingdom of God and the Isle of the Damned, went into the finals.
At the finals:
The Priest holds his index finger on his right hand to the air and draw a circle; Ah Beng held out his right hand and points his index finger to the ground. The Priest held out the index, middle and ring finger on his right hand; Ah Beng showed his midde finger. The Priest took out a bread and a wine; Ah Beng took out an apple.
The Priest admitted defeat in the end.
The Priest went back to his country disgraced. His countrymen asked him how did he lose. He said:
I told him that God is all around us, and he pointed his finger to the ground implying that God is here with us. I told him that there are Father Son and the Holy Spirit, and he said that there is only one true God. I told him that man comes from bread and wine, and he said that all man came from Adam.
Ah Beng went back to his own country confused. His friends asked him how did he win. He said:
I dunno. He look like
buei song like that and tell me to go outside and fight. I told him to settle it now. He told me he'll bring 3 man, I told him f**k you. Then he took out his lunch and I took out mine
loh. He a bit

So it was, today's my birthday. Firstly want to thank a few people. By chronological order so as not to show any bias characteristics, I would like to thank Fu Yuan for her super early wish ( I received it at 12.06am...). Wow have to really thank her for her sincerity, particularly to stay up late just to send a simple yet meaningful message.
Next, we have Dorcas and Nauranati! my 2 best friends since primary school. Must thank them for arranging to meet me up to give a personalised birthday morning (we can hardly meet normally). A bit sad today I wasn't as talkative (sorry gals...). I'll try to make it up next time (^^,) . It came as a surprise when they gave me a billabong pencil box. I was wondering:
how did they know I lost my pencil case recently...? However they decide, I still feel that I'm blessed. Of course, I finally got to take photo with them with my phone (what have I been doing all this while!!?? lolx). yup! look below...

(This photo was beautifully taken by Dorcas. Weird how she can manage to take this kind of shots with her arms extended.)
Moving on, my class gave me something too! tze chong, erik, yann ming, jimmy and kaiyu came together to buy me a shirt. Haven't got a chance to try it yet, but I think trying it on Sunday should be alright (^^,). Here comes the farny part: celine, elis, xinyi, maio sia, alice, shan and shi hua came together, to buy me a pencil case! Alright that may not be surprising considering that I lost 2 pencil case within 9 months, but the fact is, the pencil case is nearly the same as the one Naur and Dorcas bought! Its the SAME brand, SAME style, SAME colour, just different tone. Such coincidence! I wonder if they met each other while buying this. Lolx.

Well gonna end here.. Nothing else happened in the afternoon..

HaPi B'dAe Desong~
Today's Desong's Birthday! So I'm going write a blog of my experience with him...
Desong, as I came to know, is that mysterious guy I mentioned earlier on the Sunday trip to Yishun SAFRA (for rock climbing). Although I knew him only recently, and we didn't converse much, but I'm still grateful to him. Without him, I'd not have completed my climb. I remembered my first climb, where I did quite alright except for a slight slip mid-way. During the 2nd climb up another surface, I started losing grip. Some of the grab-holes (what do you call them?) were placed vertically and it was labourious to pull myself up. When I was halfway up, I lost grip suddenly! Thank God for Desong (he's my belayer). I could have fallen down and just ascend up to heaven. Anyway, I really have to thank him for being there when I needed him, pulling me up.
When I nearly reached the top of the 2nd surface however, I felt my arm having no energy to continue. I wanted to give up, deparately. As I stopped there, pausing, trying to regain my strength, I debated to myself, thinking:
I'm reaching the top soon, don't give up, never give up! I have no energy left; I can't even pull myself up the next grab-hole. I tried and re-tried a few times to climb up, but it was in vain. I shouted to Desong:
I give up, I don't want to climb anymore. He replied:
No way I'm letting you down. I tried to climb again, and I nearly slipped this time.
I can't. I have no more strength left. His reply never changed:
I'm not letting you down. Just rest for a while and continue. His optimistism in my ability was my source of motivation, my strength. Like Father acting through him, it gave me hope and rest. Finally, I'm ready to attempt the climb again. I gave in all my strength, even when I nearly slipped the second time, but his words resonate in my mind, reminding me that there is only one way: upwards. Because of him, I reached the top; because of him, I went beyond my limits; because of him, I achieved.
As today passes by, as his birthday drifts away with time, let me not forget his impact on my life, my perspective, my ability. Allow me, oh Father, to continually rejoice in his presence, to be thankful always for this brother-in-Christ. Thank You Father for all blessings in my life. Amen.

Today my class and I was doing physics practical on the resistivity of the voltameter using CuSO4 as electrolyte. The experiment ends pretty fast, and soon my partner and I was trying to vary conditions to test how thinks like moving air affects the resistance. Then I got this idea of electoplating graphite (pencil lead) with copper. Borrowing a lead from our friend Jimmy, we attach it to the anode, thinking that it would cause the plating (it was wrong actually). Cause the reaction was too slow, we decided to step up the voltage by adding more dry cell, and we observed that the efferverscence (the evolving of "bubbles") increase, and the lead swelled up and turn black (at this point we thought it was copper plating). After around 15min, we saw the lead breaking up at the bottom, which I then realise that the lead was disintegrating. So much for the idea of getting a super tough lead, but still we did what we planned for next week, i.e. the effect of electoplating copper with copper and lead at the other end. We got our answer so its not too bad (how I wish for a copper-lined lead.. hai..). Anyway its interesting to observe oxidation of benzene structure (the lead) without seeing soot, and how the structure breaks up from the bottom up to the top. Below is a picture of the lead. This black colouring is carbon while the greyish region is graphite...

After school we have a "concert" by the china scholars and our PJC "live" (a new CCA). I'll upload the photos next time. Anyway we had quite a time together. Too bad its ending this week. They had to go back to study english...

Hahax this is the interesting bit. My friend (that guy there that is not me) found this girl (in the photo) very pretty, and comments that she outshines all the female scholars that came (I prefer not to comment on this...). Me and my friends were teasing him about him and this girl. Then I asked if he wanted a photo with her. He dared me to ask her for it. We went on with this you want a photo with her?/ If you dare to ask her I'm okay with it. Initially I was apprehensive. We watched her went out with 2 other friends to perform for us (I shall not comment on it as its demeaning...). After the performance, we went back to our exchange. Finally, seeing that this chance may just slip away and he regretting, I approached the girl and boldly asked if she was willing to take a picture with us. She hesitated, but agreed. We took 2 photos, of which this was one. He was looking away in this picture, which spoiled the photo. See how close he was to the girl. Lolx..

To me, these two looks much better. To the right is xiu xuan, and the other is her buddy scholar. As usual, xiu xuan looks a little stressed (knitted eyebrows..). But still she has a bright smile. I do not know much about her buddy so I'm not fit to comment (^^,)
This is my buddy, Huang Cheng! Or rather my sub-buddy (his real buddy is jeremy). He's a fun guy to be with, at least to me. Perhaps its because he smiles easily, or acts like my big brother. Whenever he talks, he would have this bright smile, something like the above. He seems like my big brother, listening attentively to what I have to say, valuing my thoughts more than his. When facing the camera, he would shy away, but when I grab him and pull us to the camera, he would do this "twist" sign, so cute. Words cannot describle our experience together, so I shall use pictures instead:

This is us at East Coast, listening to music, which I struggled to keep his "twist" off his face.. heez..

This is Jeremy, me and him, in school canteen (^^,)
well think gonna end here...

The Swinging Tuesday..
Decided to skip monday cuz nothing much happen except waking up in the morning having difficulty walking around, wearing my pants and all. First thing I did in school was to visit the SC for first aid. Xuanhui applied antiseptic to the wound (not pain...argh...) and place a scaffold (or what's it called?) on it. I spent the rest of the day limping up and down the stairs.
Today, I skipped physical conditioning (p.c.) !! Hahax, watching others suffer in the wretching sun and weaken body, doing sprints and tug-jump. Lolx I am not so bad. I spent the time doing homework (vector pdt). All was well till a bee came and disturb us (wenqi and huang cheng not having p.c. too). We wasted half an hour I think avoiding the bee (me particularly as the bee had landed on my hand a while ago) , and I nearly can't finish my tutorial.. Zz..
After school Tze Chong, Jimmy, Jun Hong and me went for a dialogue with the Minister-Of-State of Trade and Industry Mr S Iswaran, with other students of course. The dialogue went well and I managed to ask one question, which I think he gave a very good answer. It is: As the govt continues to attrach world class events into singapore, like IR and F1, won't the ordinary citizens feel left out as they cannot afford the cost? His answer was simple: We can negotiate with them. If we do not even have them in Singapore, the citizens will not even have the chance to enjoy these events. We also took a shot with him... hee...

The Eventful Sunday...
Thursday, 5 April 2007

Hohoho~, went rock climbing this morning with sin man, kel, ber and kel's friend (dunno his name =.=). It was my first time, but the learning is easy. Just grab something and pull and step on something and push. Now for the climbing: I wore the shoes for rock climbing and the harness. The shoes were hard and tight, but it was cool. The tip is hard, and so one can just let the tip touch something and he can push himself up. The first climb was okay, though nearing the end alot of effort is needed to propel myself up. Thanks to sin man and ber cheering, I got the motivation to climb. At the top, wow the feeling was great! Its feels like I'd done something great! But I was too tired to think of looking around and got down too soon. However I went for another climb up another obstacle. It was even more tiring than the first. The start up was good but soon I lost my grip and nearly fell off (lucky I hav a belayer). This time when I reached the top, I took a good look at the surroundings, and it was magnificent! It was like I'm above the world, and the world looks greener, looks peaceful, indescribable feeling. That's me up there (^^,)
After the climb we went to North Point to have our lunch. Took a few pictures...

this is kel (seemingly dreaming of something...)

at the middle is sin man, rightside is ber, leftside is kel. One guy is trying to take ber's picture
and.. this is the guy (admiring his art)
We dispersed after that. I rushed all the way to East Coast for another outing, this time with the SDP students. I was late of course, partly underestimated the time and partly being late already. In the end I reached at 4.45pm and most of them had rented a bike and cycled away. Thinking that they are just cycling in an area, I rented a roller blade and went to catch up with them. I was wrong. They took off all the way from the rental shop near Macdonalds to bedok jetty to yacht rental shop. Having no choice, I bladed as fast as I could, relying on my weak foundations. By the time I reached them, I was so tired. But they didn't stop, and instead travelled back. That was when I decided to catch up to one of them and ask for "strength". I tried catching up to Xiuyi, but she was too fast. Suddenly, my right foot gave way and I tumbled to the ground and skidded a little. When I got up, this is what I got...

and a close up...

well I have only myself to blame for being so careless. Checking my watch, I left only 1h to get back to the rental shop. Without first aid around, I just had to bleed while I blade back. However this time I have a "strength", someone to pull me back to the shop. All was well, until we went down the slope. My right foot gave way again (argh...) and things went hapharzardly. In the end we were on the ground, my groin just crash onto the back wheels and he suffered at cut on his right toe. Spent quite a while there as others caught up and tried some rudimentary first aid (like applying water and tissue and plaster). Sparing details, we finally got back.
Such an eventful day... hard to forget, esp with blogs... hahaxx..

A Normal Day
Weell.. Not much happen today. Woke up early for Tkd Alumni training. For training today, we did some combination kicks. I was still the slowest and the weakest among the rest, but I did improve over last week. We learnt reverse kick (suppose to anyway). Seeing that we cannot execute a side slamming kick (named myself), Yiyu asked us to do a cresent kick to get our coordination right. Finally we are able to do the side slamming kick shabbly, and we moved on to reverse kick. After much coordination errors, we were able to do a low reverse kick. A starting point.. hee..
Then it happens: while Yiyu is demostrating a reverse kick, he fell and cut his foot along a crack on the floor. Funny thing was he didn't realise it until he looked at the floor ( can't he feel the pain? ). The training had to stop halfway while I sent him to a clinic. The cut was quite deep as the doctor recommended stitching. He refused though as he had 2 stitches before, and with this third his mom will blow her top. Anyway he settled for tissue glue for $80.
We ("alumni members") went to Tiong Baru for fried ice-cream. Took us quite a while because we need to show concern for Yiyu's leg, not to let the wound reopen and waste the $80 (^^,). We had our lunch there, and just when we were done, we got to know that the ice-cream for the day is sold for the day. (=.=)
After that we went separate ways. I went to church. Got to know a person named Florence. Actually she came for the past weeks but I didn't know she wasn't a Believer, so this became our starter. I had quite a conversation with her, ranging from age to cca, school life to where she lives (at least the nearest MRT) and her aspiration.
Today could be better if not for some things that i'm so critical (Father I pray that I would be less criticising). To facilitate the memory dumping, I shall not post it. hee...
