The seasons come and go,
birds fly high in the sky.
I stand alone,
relenting to my loneliness.
A bird fell into my hands.
A small chick,
bruised, crying out softly in my palms.
A sound that echoed in my heart.
Days when by as it got well.
Seeing it gaining strength,
I danced to the rhythm of its song.
It filled me with presence.
Then came a sound,
chirping from afar.
Suddenly the bird flew out,
to meet its long lost companions.
My heart jumped,
and soon I realised,
I slipped back to that quiet world.
Cool breeze of the night played across my cheeks.
Silence of the night chilled my soul.
As I stand again, looking out,
a familiar chirping came again.
The bird flew into my hands,
and made its home in the warmth.
I leaped for joy!
It stayed few a days,
breaking into that familiar flight of the dawn.
My heart grew, and cherished these times,
the secret relationship we shared.
At the sound from afar it flew again,
away,
into the depths of the sky.
I prayed, I hoped,
for my heart longs,
for that beautiful presence.
That night it came once again,
back to its cosy home.
The stark night shone its light on me.
I wondered, as it slept soundly.
I wondered,
Am I wrong to feel that prink in my heart?
